Walk-a-thon 2008

Well, we had our 5th annual Walk-a-thon Saturday, September 27th.  I have to admit with the gas shortage and the pouring rain the days before, I was wondering what kind of Walk-a-thon we were going to have!!  That morning, God provided a beautiful day with all of our families and friends coming out to support us.  Over $14,000 was raised this year, what a blessing as we head into the winter months.  I must mention the band, Well of Hope, was AWESOME.  They set up on a flatbed trailer under the arena and they sounded incredible.  Thanks so much to Anthony Bartlett for setting that up!  The barbeque again this year was provided by Ron and Rita Steele and boy was it good.  It just keeps getting better and better!  Thanks to everyone who made desserts, no sweet tooth's were left craving any sugar that's for sure.   Thanks to Luanne for all her hard work getting our T-Shirts together and taking care of the Registration booth with Janice.  And Gail Nance was the highest sponsored walker with over $2000 in donations again this year.  Thanks to all of our walkers, American Metals, JT's Jaybirds, Image Church, Wingate University Volunteers, and Joseph's crew.  Also thank you to everyone who helped not only to get things going but also to clean things up afterward.  Looking forward to next year!!

Walk-a-thon 2007

Our 4th annual walkathon, was a great success.  We had amazing weather this year and have many people to thank for making this year a success.  Thanks to Ron and Rita Steele we had wonderful BBQ and fixins, and the women from Midway Baptist Church for all of our deserts.  Our door prizes were donated by many including, Dr. Abigail Hollowell, Cathy Burton, Gail Nance and many more.  Our high money raiser was Gail Nance and thank you too many others who went way out of their way to raise money, we raised over $15,000, just under our goal of $20,000. Thanks to all who helped with registration, marking our trails, handing out water and all the other small things that make a BIG difference. This year was the year of the classic white T-shirts, thanks to Allen Tate realty and Marcia Bowen.

Walk-a-thon 2006

Our Third annual walk-a-thon was wonderful.  The weather was great the people were great all went well.  I love getting together with everyone in such a warm and positive environment, and yes, once registration is over I like to relax.  Ron & Rita Steele did there thing again this year, keeping us all fed with tasty barbecue, and thanks to everyone who brought sides and desserts, yum!!  We had many many door prizes donated as well, I think every family won a little something.  Also, let's congratulate Gail Nance in raising the most money, thank you Gail!!  Many others raised over the $1000 mark, how truly blessed we are, here at Mephibosheth Farms.  Thanks to everyone who helped with registration, t-shirts and marking out the trail, couldn't have done it without y'all!!  Oh, and Beck Imports for supplying the t-shirts, love that pretty blue color!!

Hearts & Horses Charity Auction

February 2005 marked the second fundraiser for Mephibosheth Farms Angelic Riders covered riding arena fund!  The night kicked off at 7:30 and was filled with laughter and fellowship as the bidding got underway.  The generosity was almost infectious as people bid on items and donated them back to be re-bid upon.  Birdhouses painted by the riders went for $200 each!  In total, we were able to raise $15,000!  A very special thanks to Don & Danny Hall who donated their time and expenses to the event.  We can't express our thanks enough to the individuals and businesses who donated items to be auctioned off.  Your thoughtfulness and generosity made the evening a success and allowed us to share our ministry and program with the over 300 people in attendance.  We would also like to thank everyone who helped in preparation and clean up of the event.  A special thanks to Luanne Barbee, Amy Crump, Nancy Nestor, and Sharon Meeks for their dedication to this event as well as to Angelic Riders.

Walk-a-thon 2004

Our first annual walk-a-thon was a huge success!  Our goal for this event was to have 50 walkers and raise $5,000 towards our covered riding arena fund.  However, God blessed us and multiplied our efforts bringing 70 people to the walk and raising $11, 235!!  We cannot begin to express our gratitude in the effort each of you put into this event.  Your generosity and diligence will help us quickly meet the goal of $75,000 for the first phase of the covered arena.  A special thanks to Melissa Myers for being the top fundraiser bringing in $3,300!!  Also, we extend our gratitude to Doug and Tracy Kloc for donating lunch for the participants.  Beck Imports of Charlotte also made a donation to make our t-shirts possible for this event.  Again, many heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped plan, set-up, find sponsorship, and clean up from this exciting event.  We can't wait until next year!
